Outreach

"...for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me." (Matthew 25:35-36)

Reaching out to care for people in our community is a big part of who we are at St. Mary's.

Beginning in September 2012, we opened our Rice and Beans Ministry, which is open on the third Saturday morning of each month, providing a hot breakfast and food to take home (three pounds of rice, two pounds of beans, a loaf of bread, and canned goods) to all who come.  No paperwork or identification is required.

We are the host church for Jo's Community Dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas.   Assisted by volunteers from the community and with gifts from other churches and service organizations in Andalusia, over 900 meals were served in 2016.

We make our facilities available for two AA meetings each week, meetings for non-profit community groups (e.g., Habitat for Humanity), performances for the local chamber music society, and American Red Cross Blood Drives.

We have traditionally offered a holiday service, called "When Christmas Feels Blue" for families and individuals in our community who may be grieving, sad, lonely, or simply need a quiet space during this time of the year.

Join us as we seek to love God, love our neighbors, and change the world!
